About this expedition
Challenge yourself to one of FoundLost's toughest expeditions in Borneo by following in the footsteps of the Tambunan people on the Salt Trail. Stretching over 34 km, this extremely challenging trek will bring you over mountains, across rivers, and through isolated tribes in the day, while nights will be spent in the homes of the hospitable local Dusun tribespeople.

36 KM Jungle Trek
Cut through thick foliage and wade through rivers to trace the Salt Trail.

Salt Trail Expedition
Reach Kampung Village
Before the crack of dawn, embark on an eight hour trek through swamps and jungles to reach the Kampung village, where you'll spend a night with the local tribe.
Summit Mount Dolingo (1306m)
After climbing 5 peaks in the first two days, push yourself even further to summit the final peak of the expedition - Mt. Dolingo.
Papar & Ponobukan Rivers
Face the Papar and Ponobukan rivers, a crossing that can instantly transform from calm waters to raging rapids.

Day 1
- Depart Kota Kinabalu for Inobong Sub Station (Approximately 1 hour)
- Welcome briefing & Introductions
- Trek to Kg. Terian (Approximately 6 to 8 hours)
- Lunch (en-route)
- Arrive at Kg. Terian
- Kg. Terian (Latitude: 5°48'37.40"N Longitude: 116°10'49.74"E, 285M ASL)
- Free at own leisure
- Evening meal
- Overnight stay at Kg. Terian Community Hall
Day 2
- Breakfast
- Trek to Kg. Kionop
- Pass by Kg Buayan (Latitude: 5°46'21.87"N Longitude: 116°11'28.05"E, 250M ASL)
- Lunch (en-route)
- Arrive at Kg. Kionop (Latitude: 5°44'36.07"N Longitude: 116°13'8.29"E, 410M ASL)
- Free at own leisure
- Evening meal
- Overnight stay at Kg. Kionop Church
Day 3
- Breakfast
- Trek to Kg. Malungung Sub Station (Latitude: 5°39'36.72"N Longitude: 116°15'2.27"E, 825M ASL)
- Lunch (en-route)
- Arrive at Kg. Malungung Sub Station
- Expedition closure & transfer to Kota Kinabalu (Approximately 2 hours)
