Terrain is non-technical.

Intensity is moderate with sporadic exertion. No specialized training or fitness required.

No previous expedition experience required.

Frequent rest and sleep. Good food.

Location can be easily accessed by emergency services, and well-facilitated urban districts are nearby.

Comprehensive support available and provided throughout duration of expedition.

Challenging

Stable but extreme temperatures (-20 - +20 degrees, ± 15 degrees celsius within 12 hours).

Terrain is challenging and potentially hazardous.

Intensity is challenging and requires exertion.

Strong base fitness and expedition experience is required.

Burn 2000 - 3000 calories per day.

Some expedition experience required.

Sleep may be difficult and diet will be limited.

Location can be accessed by emergency services, and well-facilitated urban districts are in the region.

Support usually available, and sporadically provided.

Epic

Extreme & volatile temperatures (± 20 degrees within 12 hours).

Terrain is technical and challenging, potentially hazardous.

Intensity is extreme and requires constant exertion.

High performance athletic ability with plenty expedition experience.

Burn 3000+ calories per day.

Plenty expedition experience.

Sleep and rest opportunities are limited.

Diet will be bland and basic.

Location is isolated and access to well-facilitated urban districts is limited.

Support sporadically available, and not provided unless required.

Legendary

Extreme, volatile and unpredictable temperatures.

Terrain is prone to natural disaster risk, extremely hazardous.

Movement is slow due to weather and terrain.

Push beyond physical and mental limits with constant exertion in extreme terrain.

Olympic-level athletic ability and veteran expedtion status.

Burn 4000+ calories a day.

Only for hardened explorers.

Next to zero sleep and rest opportunities.

Diet will be bland and basic.

Location is very isolated with access to well-facilitated urban districts requiring planning and not guaranteed.

Support unlikely, infrequent, and not provided except in emergencies.
